heartbeat long enough
your own heart starts to beat
in sync with theirs.
i have spent so long
with my head against your chest
listening to the rhythm
beating inside of you
hearing your blood rush
to your veins.
so tell me
how do you expect my heart
to beat on when
yours no longer does?
